You might say I was too excited.
I awoke from my slumber to the sweet, sweet sound of Van Halen’s “Jump” and immediately turned to the window. There, down at the end of my front yard, was the mail truck … it was here. I opened the window and turned the music up as loud as it would go. The car trip just got that much better.
For the most part I enjoy long car rides very much. There was one planned that was coming up in a few weeks: driving from New York to San Francisco. Yeah, this was a big one. No one saw or heard from him again.
Life can change in an instant. For Dr. Lawrence West, that day came on the eve of his father’s birthday. An internationally renowned scientist, Lawrence was heading a new project in time travel. I was jammin’ alllll day long.

The year was 2999.
Everyone on the nearly deserted planet Earth was getting ready for the new millennium. When I say everyone, of course I don’t actually mean that literally. And that’s when we hit the rainbow slide.
Faster and faster we tumbled down the black abyss that was my neighbor’s infamous well. Originally we thought that it was just a normal well with water at the bottom, but then it turned out it was some sort of black hole. We jumped down to see what we could find, but we just kept falling, picking up speed each second.

It all came down to one play.
In a house on Twin Peaks overlooking the city of San Francisco, we are silent. None of us look at each other and no one moves. My face paint has been severely irritating me for the past few hours, but it’s virtually unnoticeable now. I thought distraction from this feeling was impossible, but based on what I am seeing right now I might need to change my definition of impossible.

WOW! I can do this!
I’ve seen a lot of strange things in my life. Not that I’m the only one, I’m sure you and everyone we both know have seen a number of oddities throughout their existence. I’m not here to brag to you about how many strange things I’ve seen; I’m here to tell you about one strange thing I’ve seen.

When I was in high school I lived in Cleveland, Ohio. My sport of choice during my four years there was cross country, which you may or may not actually consider a sport. That is beside the point, however. I liked it because I could spend most of my time listening to music through my LG HBS-250 On-Ear Clip Noise Reducing Bluetooth Stereo Headset.

Actually, that’s a total lie; this headset didn’t exist when I was in high school. I used regular headphones, but if I was in high school running cross country today I would totally use the LG HBS-250; it’s like a Bluetooth headset, but since there are two cans you can use them to listen to music as well.

We mostly just ran against Cleveland area Ohio schools, but there was one school from Pennsylvania that came to one race each year. While I later met people that lived in Moon Township, the place was completely foreign to me at the time. I openly wondered what possessed a person to call their area “Moon” but I never got an answer. To make matters more hilarious, they had shirts that on the front said “MOON” and on the back said “WOW! I can do this!”

I never paid attention to them while they were running, but with shirts like that I kind of just assumed they were really bad. Looking back on it, I didn’t actually have evidence to back that up. Oh well.

Installing a security system in your home is never easy…
Especially when you live in a cardboard box. To be fair, it’s a pretty nice box. I mean, I chose to look at my living situation with a glass half full state of mind. There used to be a brand new 60” 3D TV inside of here. That thing was worth at least $3000 dollars so let’s do the math: using basic cardboard box home arithmetic it was quite easy to value my home at $3,100 with the TV inside.

If you’re wondering what I did with the TV my answer may surprise you: I sold it to a group of hipsters for $100 and an Arcade Fire CD.  So with that in mind I attempted build my own security system using pieces of garbage that lay scattered throughout an ally nearby. I used a car battery from a 1985 Chevy Caprice for electricity and an old Kodak disposable camera. I was certain that if I hooked everything up the right way I would have a system that could compete with the White House. Instead there was a massive explosion and my house was destroyed.

There I sat in confusion, not being able to comprehend why my design had failed. I wouldn’t call myself an engineer by any stretch of the imagination but I did see the movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”.  I started to cry and my sobbing began to attract oncoming pedestrians.
